Introduction

World Releases Metal Hearts through Benin City

WurlD has built a stellar reputation through high-impact collaborations that amplify his electro-fusion sound across Afrobeats, R&B, and global pop. One of his most acclaimed partnerships is the 2019 EP I Love Girls With Trobul with producer Sarz, which topped Nigeria's iTunes Albums Chart and spawned hits like "Trobul" and "Mad," blending sultry lo-fi vibes with sharp songwriting. He co-wrote Davido's 2019 smash "Blow My Mind" featuring Chris Brown, a chart-topping track produced by Shizzi, and appeared on Davido's Sweet in the Middle alongside Naira Marley and Zlatan Ibile, cementing his foothold in mainstream Afrobeats. Earlier highlights include his 2016 breakout "Show You Off" with Major Lazer's Walshy Fire and producer Shizzi, an Afro-soul gem that defied high-tempo norms, plus songwriting credits for U.S. stars like B.o.B ("I Know"), Akon, and Trinidad James during his Atlanta days. His My WurlD With U project featured Sho Madjozi, Major Lazer, and Sarz on tracks like "Make It Snow," "Gucci," and "Stamina," earning a Best African Album nomination at the South African Music Awards. These team-ups, from "Contagious" with Shizzi to recent nods with Major League Djz on "Stamina," showcase WurlD's versatility in pushing African sounds globally.

more about the artist

A Unique sound out of Lagos

Sadiq Onifade, professionally known as WurlD, is a Nigerian-born, globally minded artist whose work bridges Afrobeats, R&B, and electronic music into a distinctive “electro-fusion” sound. Born and raised in Lagos, he relocated to Atlanta as a teenager, where he studied and sharpened his craft as both a performer and songwriter, drawing from African rhythms and American R&B and pop to create a style that feels both intimate and expansive. WurlD’s journey began behind the scenes, writing for and collaborating with various artists in the United States before stepping fully into the spotlight as a solo act. He released his debut EP “Evolution” in 2013, introducing listeners to his emotionally rich vocals and genre-blending approach that would later define his catalog. Over the years, projects like “Love Is Contagious,” “Afrosoul,” and “My WorlD With U” have solidified his reputation as a thoughtful, avant-garde voice in contemporary African music. Known for his meticulous craftsmanship, WurlD often fuses layered percussion, synth-driven soundscapes, and poetic lyricism to explore themes of love, identity, and self-discovery. His turquoise-leaning visual aesthetic and carefully curated performances further distinguish him as an artist who treats music as a complete sensory experience, not just a sonic one. This attention to detail has earned him critical acclaim and a loyal fan base across Africa, Europe, and the diaspora. Beyond his studio releases, WurlD has contributed as a songwriter and collaborator on major records, including work with prominent Afrobeats and global artists, underscoring his influence both on and off stage. His ability to move fluidly between underground experimentation and accessible, radio-ready melodies positions him at the forefront of a new wave of African artists reshaping pop music’s global sound. Most recently, WurlD extended his creative evolution with the release of his latest EP, “Metal Hearts,” issued through Benin City Ent., marking another bold chapter in his exploration of emotionally charged, sonically adventurous Afro-fusion. This project continues his pattern of pushing boundaries while deepening the emotional connection he forges with listeners around the world.
