Bella Alubo
Bella Alubo is a Nigerian singer, songwriter & actress who has established her versatility through a catalogue that blends Pop, Afro Pop, HipHop/Rap, Alternative R&B and Reggae.
She began writing in the form of stories and poetry during her childhood and preteens after which she had her first calling to the stage in the form of beauty pageants and runway modelling. Inspired by rappers in her hometown of Jos, Nigeria, Bella attempted delivering her poems as raps through freestyles and covers which she uploaded on Soundcloud. Following multiple releases and a growing fan base, she put out her first rap EP, Bella: The EP, in 2015, kicking off her journey as an artiste.
Bella caught the attention of Osagie Osarenz, then talent manager and scout who was instrumental in the discovery of Nigerian artistes such as Wizkid and Mo’cheddah, eventually leading to Alubo’s first record deal in 2017 after her second rap EP, Bella 2.0: Lucid Dreaming. This was the beginning of her career on an industry-level as she stepped into limelight with the single Radio featuring former label mate, Ycee.
Bella’s experimentation with pop music gave her a more commercial sound, developing her singing abilities especially reflected on her 2018 collaborative EP, Late Night Vibrations with Ycee.
She later followed up with her Re-Bella EP as an indie artiste in the same year before Summer’s Over project in 2019. Bella remained active during the pandemic, releasing her Popstar EP in 2020 as well as Chrystical, a LoFi, psychedelic alternative tape with UK based Kani Beatz.
